TRANSPERSONAL PERSPECTIVES

Newsletter No.8 - Spring 2009

Dear Friends.

cosmic sphereI am afraid this newsletter is “better late than never”. I am hoping you have put the dates of all our meetings in you diary and I am looking forward to seeing many of you on May17th. Please make a note of the other dates and topics and also the dates and theme for our Conference Weekend in 2010.

It is exciting isn’t it that we have so much talent and expertise within the Transpersonal World and even more thrilling that people are willing to share it all with us.

Sunday May 17th A Day on Drugs from a Transpersonal Perspective

Led by Mark Price

"In the past, the Transpersonal has often been associated with altered states of consciousness – but how do we regard drug use from a Transpersonal Perspective now?

We all take or have taken drugs for different reasons. I remember asking my then 8year old why she thought people took drugs. She replied in her always straightforward way- “to help them get better, to stop them getting poorly or make them feel different” – it’s the third of these reasons we’ll be looking at over the course of the day

The day will feature an overview of drugs, drug use and associated issues in current and recent times. We’ll be looking at the meaning drugs have for us and our relationship with drugs. Along the way, we’ll reflect on whether it be through drug induced madness, ecstasy, or intoxication, how Dionysus (also know as “Eleutherios”, “the liberator”) might be regarded as being responsible for freeing us from our everyday selves – the shadow to Apollonian structure, order and boundaries. We’ll also consider the nature of the chaos that such liberation may result in

Just off to make a cup of tea ………….."
